Bladder Botox Injections-
Side effects
These are minimal.
The procedure may give minor discomfort when passing urine for approximately 48 hours. You may see some traces of blood in your urine for the same period of time. Occasionally patients may develop a urinary infection within 7 days which responds to antibiotic treatment (5%).
Medical literature reports problems with bladder emptying in approximately 2 % ot patients who require a temporary urinary catheter.
There is a very rare reported complication of over-response from the Botox requiring a long term catheter (1 in 1000). Here in Nottingham we have not seen this side effect.
